A leading Lancashire home care provider is taking the hassle out of D.I.Y for scores of vulnerable adults across the county.

Customers of Willowbrook Home Care, which offers domiciliary care to hundreds of elderly people across East Lancashire, are to be offered a quick response maintenance service to ensure small issues that arise in their home will not cause undue distress.

Elaine Brady, Managing Director of Willowbrook, said: “What generally would be seen by most people as a ‘do it yourself’ job, such as moving furniture or putting up a curtain pole, can throw up numerous challenges for a large proportion of our clients.

“We hope that by launching this service, our customers will simply pick up the phone when small maintenance issues are concerning them, and we will handle everything from there. One of our key hopes is that we can keep people comfortable in their own homes for as long as possible, and this is another step to that goal.”

Customers will be able to call a dedicated helpline with those nagging concerns and Willowbrook’s maintenance team will respond within 24 hours. They will help with anything from changing a light bulb to putting up shelving.

Ian Shorrock will be leading the maintenance team. He said: “No job is too small for us. We are only concerned with getting the job done quickly, so customers can be left to focus on the things they enjoy in life. Some of the jobs will be very easy for us to complete, but could be extremely hazardous for our customers. We are hoping to prevent unnecessary falls and injuries, as well as offering peace of mind.

“It’s often enjoyable for customers to have a visitor to break up the day, so we’ll have a good old chat with them while we are there too.”

With the larger issues that could arise, such as electricity, plumbing or structural problems, Willowbrook will use their links with local tradesmen to get the best quote from a reliable source. On-going work, such as routine gardening, can also be completed by the maintenance team at a very competitive rate.
